  A new floating hotel for wind farm construction workers will arrive at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm next week to replace the previous “floatel”, which is required elsewhere.

  Norfolk watercolourist, John Hurst who specialises in capturing the area's maritime heritage as well as local landscapes has turned his attention to the Sheringham Shoal project as an example of maritime history in the making.

  A replacement wind turbine installation vessel will arrive on site at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm in February to help reduce delays to the 317MW project’s forecast schedule following a period of unseasonably poor weather.

  The annual Wells-next-the-Sea Christmas Tide event to welcome in the 2011 festive season, which this year included a Central Park style outdoor ice-skating rink, was once again supported by Scira.
 
19.10.2011 Completed bearings take a load off the foundations at Sheringham Shoal Every foundation on the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site now has elastometric spring bearings installed.
  The innovative elastometric spring bearings designed to improve the vertical load carrying capacity of the wind turbines of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, have now been installed on each of the 90 foundations at the site, 20 kilometres off the coast of the Norfolk in the UK.

  John Craven and the team from BBC’s Countryfile arrived in Wells-next-the-Sea yesterday to film Sheringham Shoal for a feature on offshore wind energy to be broadcast on Sunday, October 16.
 
22.09.2011 More vessels join Sheringham Shoal fleet SEA JACK’ in Great Yarmouth ready to leave for the Sheringham Shoal site.
  Two new vessels will join the growing fleet working on the site of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm today as the installation and commissioning of the 88 turbines progresses.
 
09.09.2011 Scira Offshore Energy’s emergency preparedness has been put into action this week  
  Yesterday a contractor for one of the wind farm’s construction suppliers fell ill due to a non-work related condition onboard the floating hotel “Wind Ambition” and had to be airlifted to hospital. Due to high sea conditions at the time a helicopter was called in to perform a medical evacuation.
 
23.08.2011 Foundation installation complete at Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm site All 90 foundations for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm are now in place.
  All 90 foundations for the 317MW Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, located off the UK’s Norfolk coast, are now in position and awaiting the arrival of the remainder of the wind farm’s 88 turbines.
 
02.08.2011 First power to the Grid First power to the Grid.
  The first turbine has been successfully installed and commissioned at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, and on 2nd August started producing electricity to the UK grid.
 
04.07.2011 First turbine installed at Sheringham Shoal The GMS Endeavour installing the first turbine.
  The Endeavour jacked up offshore at the wind farm site on Friday and completed the highly technical lifting procedure to raise and install the 80 metre tower, and subsequently the nacelle, of the first turbine in the field. By Sunday all three 52 metre blades had been successfully fitted.
 
24.06.2011 Celebrating the installation of the 44th foundation/TP Einar Strômsvâg, General Manager of Scira Offshore Energy, cuts the first slice of cake.
  A small celebration took place at the Scira offices on Polka Road in Wells on 14 June 2011, to mark the successful installation of the 44th foundation for the windfarm. 

 

 
10.06.2011 Sheringham Shoal's first turbine due for installation this coming week, as the GMS Endeavour arrives from Great Yarmouth ....... The GMS Endeavour is a self propelled, self elevating jack up barge.
  The first turbines due to be installed at Sheringham Shoal have been transported by barge from the Danish port of Esjberg, and recently arrived in Great Yarmouth. Two barges are used for this operation, and each barge collects 6 sets of towers, nacelles and blades which make up the complete turbine.

  Over the next few days the state of the art vessel Oleg Stashnov is due to arrive back at Sheringham Shoal along with new vessles Smit Constructor and a floating hotel the Wind Ambition.

 

 
13.05.2011 Sheringham Shoal offshore substations in place Sheringham Shoal offshore substations in place
  Two large offshore substations, each weighing nearly 1,000 tonnes, arrived off the North Norfolk coast at 22:00 on 3 May to be installed at the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. The substations will channel the energy generated by the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm to the onshore substation at Salle for distribution into the National Grid.

  A new vessel will be visible off the North Norfolk coast over the coming weeks as further work continues on the installation of the foundations for the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm. The ‘Oleg Strashnov’ is a state-of-the-art crane vessel designed for heavy lifting operations, and its key features include a 5000-mt fully revolving crane combined with a high sailing speed of 14 knots.

 

 
11.03.2011 Substation and foundation installation contract awarded  
  Seaway Heavy Lifting Contracting Ltd. has been awarded a contract by Scira Energy Offshore Limited for installation of the two offshore substations and the remaining number of foundations at Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm operated by Scira Ltd. Scira Ltd is owned 50% by Statoil ASA and Statkraft AS.

 

 
07.02.2011 Another North Norfolk business awarded Sheringham Shoal contract  
  Elite Taxis, a North Norfolk business in Wighton near Wells-next-the-Sea, has been awarded a contract from the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm.

 

 
01.02.2011 Sheringham Shoal Visitor Centre opens in The Mo Inside The Sheringham Shoal Visitor Centre.
  While the construction of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm continues off the coast of the region, it is timely that the Sheringham Shoal Visitor Centre will open today. The visitor and wind energy education centre associated with this exciting renewable energy project is opening in The Mo, located on nearby Sheringham seafront.

 

 
22.12.2010 New turbine installation contract awarded  
  Gulf Marine Services (GMS) has been awarded a contract by Scira Offshore Energy Limited for wind turbine installation works in connection with the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm construction. GMS will mobilize GMS Endeavour to the Southern North Sea during Q1 2011 and installation of wind turbines is scheduled to start in April-May.

 

 
17.09.2010 Trio of vessels to install Sheringham Shoal export cable "Team Oman" loaded up with the cables bound for the Sheringham Shoal project.
  A trio of large vessels will be visible off the north Norfolk coast over the coming weeks as work starts on the preparation of the route and installation of the export cable that will carry the electricity from the Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm to shore.

23.08.2010 Statement regarding Norfolk seal deaths  
  Recent media reports have attempted to implicate the Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm operations in the death of more than 40 seals at Blakeney Point on the Norfolk coast. Both Scira and the police have checked all equipment on vessels operating at the site and found no connection.

19.07.2010 Guard vessel now in operation on Sheringham Shoal wind farm site "Jadi", on contract from Offshore Marine Management as a guard vessel for the Sheringham Shoal Wind Farm.
  A guard vessel is now in operation on the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm to ensure the safety of marine traffic around the foundation installation sites and along the export cable corridor.

  Construction work on the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site begins today (Tuesday, March 9), with the arrival of the 164m “Nordnes” vessel, which will position rocks at selected foundation locations in preparation for the start of the installation of the giant monopile structures next month.

  Construction work has finished on a new outer harbour in Wells which will be the operation and maintenance base for Sheringham Shoal.
 
04.02.2010 New outer harbour at Wells taking shape The dredging work at Wells-next-the-Sea is moving into its second phase, with work now underway to deepen the channel to the North Sea.
  A rectangular "pool" has been dredged at Buxton's Bight - near the local lifeboat station - which will house the new jetty and 14 pontoons due to be installed this month. A marine piling rig now in the port will soon be transported to the site where it will set the foundations for the facilities.

  The first marine work on the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm will begin on the weekend when contractor Visser & Smith Marine Contracting utilises a horizontal directional drilling technique to install ducts at Weybourne in preparation for the “pull-in” of the wind farm’s two export cables. The 22 kilometre export cables will carry the power generated by the wind farm to landfall, where they will be connected to the onshore cable, now being installed by Carillion plc
