Scira Offshore Energy moves to Wind Farm Place

The final piece of the jigsaw of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm has been put in place with Scira Offshore Energy's [Scira] move to a purpose-built Operation and Maintenance [O&M] base at Wind Farm Place in Egmere near Walsingham on 4th February 2013.

Constructed by local firm, Mansell Construction of Swaffham, Wind Farm Place is located three miles south of Wells-next-the-Sea in North Norfolk. It is a low-energy consumption building - low energy lighting, highly insulated walls, a ‘green’ roof to reduce rainwater run-off and greywater recycling of rainwater to flush toilets. With 900 sq ft of office accommodation and 400 sq ft of warehousing, Wind Farm Place will house Scira's management and administration staff and serve as the base for the wind turbine technicians working on the maintenance of the offshore wind farm on a daily basis.

Einar Strømsvâg, Scira's General Manager welcomes the move, saying: "The building in Polka Road in Wells, which had previously been the Field Study Centre, has served us well during the construction of the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm, and the Prepare for Operations phase of what has been a very complex project."

"However, now that the wind farm is fully operational, the local management team is delighted to have moved into its new, purpose-built home. It will be an excellent base for our activities for many years to come."
