Scira thanks Wells with help from friends
Bjørn the polar bear, Pinky and Bluey the albino peacocks and the amazing wind people helped Scira say a huge thank you to Wells-next-the-Sea on the weekend as they performed at the opening day of the annual Carnival event.
Scira's carnival contribution, which included sponsorship of the Raft Race as well as the special guest entertainers from Cirque Bijou, was in appreciation for the support local people have given the organisation since it was first decided that the town was the preferred location to access the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site, some four years ago. The town has seen activity throughout the the planning, development and construction phases of the wind farm and, from later this year, will be home to the new operations and maintenance base.
This event also celebrated a year since the day electricity was first produced at the wind farm, which will operate out of the harbour for at least the next 50 years and be a long-term member of the local community.
