8 July 2008 - MTHøjgaard a/s has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for offshore foundations for the proposed Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm project. The estimated value of the contract is £190 million.
The full execution of the cable contract is subject to the wind farm receiving offshore consent from the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) and a final investment decision to be taken later in the year.
The power cables will be manufactured at Nexans’ factory in Halden, Norway for delivery in mid-April 2010.
Completion and production start-up of the offshore wind farm is planned for late 2011.
Assuming consent and financial approval, MTHøjgaard will design, fabricate and install 90 monopile foundations, 88 for the wind turbine generators and the remaining two for the substations. The foundations are scheduled to be installed during 2010.
The 35-square kilometre Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm site is located approximately 17 to 23 km from the north Norfolk coastal town of Sheringham in a water depth of between 16 and 22 metres.
Completion and production start-up of the wind farm is planned for the third quarter of 2011.
The Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm is being developed by Scira Offshore Energy Limited, a joint-venutre company purposely established for this project and owned by StatoilHydro, headquartered in Norway, and by the Dutch company Evelop, a subsidiary of Econcern.
