Substation gets planning permission
(21 February 2008) Scira Offshore Energy today received the last of three planning permissions required to construct and operate the onshore grid connection which will join the proposed Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm to the electricity distribution network.
The planning permission, granted by Broadland District Council, is for a new substation adjacent to an existing facility at Salle, near Cawston.
Permissions have also been received from both Broadland and North Norfolk District Councils to construct and operate a 21.3 kilometre underground cable system between a landfall point at Weybourne, on the north Norfolk coast, and the new substation at Salle.
This final approval is another major step forward for joint venture company Scira Offshore Energy Limited in the development of its Sheringham Shoal Offshore Wind Farm.
