awards Ecoventures a windfarm site
On the 18 th of December the Crown Estate announced that
an Agreement for Lease was offered to Ecoventures from Utrecht,
the Netherlands. Ecoventures submitted a tender as leader of a consortium
with SLP Energy from the UK under the consortium name “Scira Offshore
Energy” for the development of a 315 MW offshore wind farm called
“Sheringham Shoal”. The wind farm will consist of approximately
60 to 80 turbines, located about 20 km north of the Norfolk coast
in the English North Sea. The total investment is in the amount
of € 460 million.

The Assessment Panel of
the Crown Estate concluded that the bid from Scira Offshore Energy
was strong, the site well selected and the ability of the consortium
to progress the development through to consent stage impressive.
Exclusive rights
An Agreement for Lease
from the Crown Estate gives the consortium the right to exclusively
develop an offshore wind farm at this location and start the necessary
planning and environmental work to obtain planning permission, which
is expected in 2006. Scira Offshore Energy intends to begin communications
and dialogue with the relevant local community stakeholders, local
authorities and other offshore developers at the earliest opportunity.

for the development of the wind farm on behalf of Ecoventures. A
wind farm that will produce sustainable energy for approximately
a half million people”.

and Ecoventures are subsidiary companies of Econcern
